★★ New E-Learning courses now available

★ Sleep Awareness:

If you have problems with sleep, you are not alone. It is estimated that one in three people have problems sleeping. There are many reasons why it can be difficult.

You might have responsibilities that occupy your time or your mind. Maybe you have an inconsistent sleep routine because you work shifts. Or perhaps your surrounding environment is noisy. Although it might be difficult, it is crucial that you get enough sleep every night.

★ Nutrition:

Nutrition involves eating a healthy diet so that your body gets the correct balance of nutrients. This is critical in order to improve your overall wellbeing and reduce the risk of developing a non-communicable disease (NCD).

However, deciding which foods are healthy can be complicated. Conflicting information can make it difficult to make the best choices.

Although each person requires different types and quantities of food, the ETS Nutrition course can help you understand what defines ‘healthy’ so you can start to make more informed decisions.

★ Conflict management:

The ETS Conflict Management Course is part of the Wellbeing pack and describes various techniques to prevent conflict. This includes building your emotional intelligence, managing emotions, building trust and respect, and communicating effectively to reduce misunderstandings.

The ETS Resilience eLearning course explains how you can develop resilience with reference to four areas – emotional, mental, social, and physical.

The course outlines simple, practical ways to help you react more positively to challenges referring to these areas.

★★ Changes for 2017 ★★

All our First Aid at work qualifications now cover the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)  as standard, this is great news for clients as previously they had to attend an additional training course specifically designed for using the AED.

★★Ashby De La Zouch Set to become a safer place due to 2 public access AED’s being made available★★

Having spoken to the town Clerk (Jack Fargher) today regarding the public access AED’s being made available in the town centre, he informs me that since the issue was raised by Ashby based business Elite Training Solutions in early 2015 that the following progress has been made.

Various defibrillator providers and services were consulted by The Town Council. It was then discuss...ed between the Town Council, Rotary club and Parish Councils funding was then made available from each of them and 2 defibrillators/storage boxes bought from the Heart Beat charity. The defibrillators are due to be positioned one towards the top of Market Street and one at the bottom.

At this moment in time the Town Council are in talks with various property owners in the Market Street vicinity to secure the locations for the defibrillators to be attached to the front of the property, they will be accessible by the general public in the event of an emergency after calling for an ambulance. The boxes will be situated in full view of the towns CCTV to assist with keeping the defibrillators monitored 24/7.(The AED cabinets will look simular to the one shown in the picture below.)

The Town Council would like to thank the supporters of this campaign for their patience.

We are looking to collate a list of any traders in the Ashby De La Zouch area that have a defibrillator onsite at their premises so we can create a list to show where AED’s are located to aid in the event of an emergency. If you would like to be included, please send details of your operational times to info@etsfirstaid.co.uk

★★2016 Changes to Paediatric First Aid Legislation★★

Are you aware of the new legislation that has been introduced meaning, from September 2016, all Childcare Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications must include Paediatric First Aid. This was introduced as a result of the tragic loss of Millie Thompson who lost her life in a choking incident in a nursery in October 2012. This simple change will mean around 15,000 additional trained early years professionals to nurseries and pre-schools every year.

This event was supported by North West Leicestershire District Council and Elite Training Solutions. The event was very well organised by the staff at Hood Park Leisure Centre. The swimmers actually enjoyed being able to swim with plenty of space around them.

Elite Training solutions are raising awareness of how effective AED (Automated external defibrillators) are when someone is in cardiac arrest, with just CPR (Cardio pulmonry resuscitation) only every minute that passes the chances of patient survival decreases by 10 %. With effective prompt application of an AED and CPR  the patients chances of survival dramatically increase to a survival rate of more then 50%

Pictured below is the internationally recognised symbol of the defibrillator. Defibrillators are used worldwide most of them have a calming voice prompt system which enables to first aider to apply the defibrillator in a safe reassuring manor.

Defibrillators are  becoming more and more common in workplaces schools & villages & Airports.

Elite Training Solutions Help Army Cadets Win County Title

The success of a team from F Squadron (LDY) of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force was assured in the County’s Annual First Aid Competition thanks to the support and effort of a local adult volunteer instructor.

Elite Training Solutions director of Training, Tom Bennett, is a volunteer Adult Instructor/ Detachment Commander with the Army Cadet Force. Earlier this year Staff Sergeant Instructor Bennett was tasked with putting together a team of cadets from his Detachment to represent F squadron (LDY) in the annual County First Aid competition which was held in Northampton at Gibraltar Barracks.

The Cadets from F squadron were under the guidance and training from Staff Sergeant Instructor Bennett & his team. The Cadets were initially very nervous but as soon as they were tasked with various situations & scenarios they performed perfectly and their training kicked in and took over. The F Squadron Cadets waited on parade at the end of the day for the results to be given - they won the competition 4 points clear of all the other teams that entered and they were presented with medals and the County Shield. The team is now getting geared up for the Regional First Aid championship held in Cambridgeshire later this year. Hopefully they can repeat their success and move on to the national championships

Congratulations to SSI Tom Bennett & his team for a job well done and of course the cadets for their brilliant effort. The justifiably proud team are shown below.
