PLEASE NOTE FROM AUGUST 2025 THE RFU ARE NO LONGER PROVIDING THE EFARFU COURSES. ETS IS STILL SUPPORTING CLUBS BY OFFERING A REDUCED PRICE LEVEL 3 EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE, WITH THE ADDITION OF DIGITAL RESOURCES MADE AVAILABLE TO LEARNERS FROM THE RFU. WE ARE STILL ON THE RFU’S LIST OF PROVIDERS.
Until the recent changes were announced, ETS had been an RFU-approved Educator for over six years, delivering both the Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union (EFARU) and Play It Safe (PIS) safeguarding courses. In addition, ETS played a key role in internal quality assurance (IQA) processes, ensuring that RFU First Aid trainers within Area 4 (The East Midlands) remained compliant.
While the RFU will only be offering online CPD in first aid from August 2025, we know how difficult it can be for grassroots clubs to find accessible, affordable, and high-quality training, this is where we can help, we believe that supporting grass routes clubs is key to the survival of Rugby as we know it.
It is recommended that these documents are recorded by clubs as well as candidates adding them to GMS

The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course provides the recommended minimum level of first aid training for any appointed first aiders.
The course provides learners with a sound level of knowledge and understanding. It also covers topics specific to relevant rugby volunteers assisting at matches and training sessions.
The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course has extra rugby-specific elements designed for volunteers, coaches and match officials who are designated as a first-aider and are responsible for providing pitch-side cover at both training and matches.
The course provides learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to give care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor injuries and illness. It focuses on injuries that could occur in a rugby environment. Learners are able to assess an incident, recognise the signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and in a safe and effective manner assist a casualty who is suffering from injury or illness.
To help, we’re offering our accredited training courses at reduced rates to support clubs like yours in maintaining safety standards.
We also now provide first aid equipment at discounted prices to further support your club. If you’d like a copy of our equipment catalogue, just let us know.
To book a course with us please email info@etsfirstaid.co.uk or call 0770 852 2621.
It is recommended once candidates recieve their digital certification on successful completion, that clubs ask all appointed first aiders to self-certify their FA qualification(s) on their RFU GMS profile, using the self-service tool in the qualifications section. This will allow clubs to monitor the number of qualified first aiders, qualification renewal dates etc. Once ETS has issued certification via email, we have no access to candidate GMS and cannot advise on the GMS processes in place. Any queries regarding GMS should be sent directly to the RFU.
